We are pleased to offer this lovely 1989 Jaguar XK-S V12.
First introduced In 1975, the XJ-S was really the last Jaguar of the Lyons era together with styling influenced by the legendary aerodynamics Malcolm Sayer. It’s mechanical roots can be found in the Series 3 E Type with the silky smooth V12 and independent rear suspension.
1980 saw the arrival of John Egan at the helm of Jaguar. He was responsible for commissioning an independent Swiss engineer, Michael May, who designed a revolutionary new ‘fireball’ head for the V12, producing more power and torque, but reducing fuel usage by as much as 20%. Launched in 1981, the XJ-S HE (High Efficiency) gave the XJ-S a new lease of life and in addition to the improved engine the interior was redesigned with new veneered dash, simplified instrumentation, revised bumpers and mirrors giving the XJ-S a new updated look.
This 1989 XJ-S V12 owes it’s condition to the previous garage owner who from 2010 under took a full restoration of the bodywork and interior, including new headlining, interior wood, bumpers, and alloy wheels.
The car is presented with its service, original Jaguar booklets and an A4 folder containing many past invoices, and MOT certificates.
EXTERIOR:
This desirable ‘pre-facelift’ XJ-S is finished in unmarked Talisman Silver Metallic. All the chrome work is in excellent condition as are the 16” lattice alloy wheels fitted to this car. They are fitted with as new Continental Premium Contact 2 tyres all the way round.
INTERIOR & SPECIFICATION:
The interior of this car is also in lovely condition. The supple black leather on the seats and grey carpet in the footwells are in great condition, while the solid burred walnut inserts in the dash and door panels are new, as is the headlining. The centre console retains it original Jaguar-branded radio/cassette as well as a trip computer, rear seat belts, electric windows and power seats are all fitted. The boot is also lined in grey carpet, together with the new spare wheel.
SUMMARY:
This is a very nice example of an appreciating modern classic Jaguar, having been cherished over the past 10 years by its previous owner and in arguably the best classic colour combination of silver with black interior. It’s a car to enjoy at the weekends or ideally suited for that dash to the South of France as it was originally intended. A true British classic.
